How does my Mac lose it's burning software?

Went into iTunes. Wanted to burn a CD. The hard drive can read the CD and shows on the desktop, although iTunes says "Disc burner or software not found". How can I remedy that?

A reboot doesn't solve the problem? I've had this happen when I somehow aborted a burn in one app and tried one in another... After a reboot, everything was fine.

It works!

Got it. Didn't even think of rebooting after the hard drive has been spinning for two days.
