| back up software I have a 160 gb maxtor external hard drive that I use to back up both of my internal hardrives. I have been using Retrospect Express but am not pleased with it as it has become eradict ever since I installed Tiger. At times it will tell me there is insufficient space to back up the files then other times it will perform the backup; in addition the automatic scripting never works. Can anyone recommend an alternative software to do back up. Thanks |

| I use Apple's "BackUp" and it works great. Saves HD space but just adding what is changed each day. It is all automatic to my 500 gb exernal drive. http://www.apple.com/dotmac/backup.html |

| I agree, I use Apple Back-up, both for iDisk and external HD. Works good and simple. |

| If you're not opposed to having a "clone" instead of a true, compressed backup, you may want to check out Chronosync. You can set schedules and it has a lot of synchronization options... plus, you don't have to actually "restore" anything to access the backed-up files, as it simply synchronizes the files between two locations.

| LaCie's SilverKeeper works great for me. Ever has. And is free, too.

| Carbon Copy Cloner is free, although I don't think you can "schedule" it for automatic backups. It also doesn't work with Intel based Macs. For my MacBook Pro, I use SuperDuper. |
