My external dive will not work in osx.

I have an external 60gb hard drive that is formated with fat32 that I used for my windows computer. When I hook it up to my mac all I can do is view the folders but can't add or delete anything on it. Is it because mac can't use fat32 fs?

I am running the new core 2 duo 20" imac.

Macs can read fat32 and NTFS partitions. The best thing to do would be copy the files to a new directory on your main HD. (if you have the room) Then you can reformat the external drive and do what you please with it. Make sure that when you use disk utility, you select partition, options and APM for Power PC mac or GUID for intel mac. If you select the wrong thing, the new external drive will NOT be bootable. Good Luck.

It seems to be in NTFS format rather than FAT32, then.

It just brings up the copying screen and says "copying.... to external", "Zero kb of 11MB about a minute" and stays on that screen. Even hitting the stop copying button does not do anything. Only way I know of to cancell it is to restart the computer.

    Getting very annoying.
