Quit the Systemprefs and than you should try flushing your SystemPreference Cache:
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.preferencepanes.cache
I discovered the ultra-cool iTunes artwork option in the screensaver in System Preferences. Unfortunately, it crashes the System Prefs. every time I select it.

Thanks - tried it but it didn't remedy the situation.
ok. let's see what else we can do:
Try also deleting the following files:
~/yourname/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
Switch to the Byhost Folder in
~/yourname/Library/Preferences/ByHost
Drag a file that starts with com.apple.screensaver... to the trash.
Be sure that SystemPreferences aren't open while you remove the files.
Good luck!
"Drag a file that starts with com.apple.screensaver... to the trash."
there were many...that did it. Many thanks
Thanks dernightdj. I had the same problem.
It is enough to delete com.apple.screensaver.iTunesArtwork.*.plist.
