| Hi, I regularly work with files which contain CE, Cyrillic and other language fonts in Quark. The fonts work ok in OS 9 but don't work and don't appear in OS X (Tiger). Does anybody know why this is happening and how I can resolve the issue? I am using Suitcase Fusion an Intel Mac and Quark 6.5. Is this another Mac OS 9/10 incompatibility? | So, you are using MacOS 9 and MacOS X on two different computers? Do you have the fonts installed properly on your Intel Mac? |

| Thanks for replying... Without wanting to sound like a complete muppet, what do you mean by installing the fonts properly? All I have done is grab them from my OS 9 and put them on the Intel and then load them into Suitcase Fusion. Is there something else I should be doing? |

| what are the dot extensions to the fonts you are moving? It could be they are not in a file format that's supported in OS X on an Intel Mac. I recommend ditching Fusion and going for the free Font Explorer here: http://www.linotype.com/fontexplorer Make sure all your user fonts are not loaded in System/Fonts. Just keep your system fonts there. Create a different folder inside your hard drive called MY FONTS or something like that and store your fonts there. Load them from there too.

| Look at this list of specs: http://www.wesleyan.edu/its/media/fonts_osx.htm Looks like only true type fonts are still supported by OS X. Another forum thread on the topic here: http://www.macaddict.com/forums/post/19414

The takeaway message is that MacOS X supports just about any font format that is available today. Last edited by MisterMe; December 15th, 2006 at 09:22 PM. |
