Connecting my laptop to a moniter?

I have a moniter that I want to connect my macbook to, so I can play games on a bigger screen. I went to Circuit City and asked for a wire, but they didn't know of one that I could plug into my mac since a regular moniter wire doesn't fit. Just wondering where I could get one and what its called. Thanks

Apple sells a Mini-DVI to VGA adapter and Mini-DVI to DVI adapter. They are under twenty bucks I think.

Ah. Do I have to order that from the apple store, or can I get it from a regular computer store... like best buy, circuit city or radioshack?

Apple sells them online, by phone, or at any Apple store. As for picking up the adapters elsewhere, it depends. Some store may carry them, I know CompUSA for a while carried a lot of Apple accessories, but it really varies. Just call around to stores near you, and ask if they carry MiniDVI adapters. Be sure to get one that is the correct output for your monitor.

My Mac Book Pro came with the mini-DVI to VGA adapter. I use a second monitor and it works great. As a new mac user I was positively surprised by the option of setting different desktop pics for the laptop and the external monitor. > System Preferences > Desktop&Screen Saver > opens two separate windows, one on the laptop and one on the external monitor. Great stuff!

Thanks guys
If my macbook came with that wire, I have no clue where it is.
I ordered one from the apple store... and got a wireless keyboard/mouse as well. Yay.
