HI all. Has anyone here faced a case when standard .dmg images used to distribute X software (Omniweb, VNC, etc.) are unmountable? The CRC doesn't fail, but the disk is declared unreadable and OSX offers to initialize it or eject it. I have OSX with dev tools installed. |

No but I have a problem where the mount program hangs while trying to mount .dmg images. Force-quitting and re-mounting solves the problem but it's irritating. |

No? I am having the same problem, and need an a solution, as more and more developers are distributing their software on this format.

| same problem, can't mount .img/.dmg files
I can't figure this out...Disk Copy gives an error on any .dmg/.img file....installing software is no longer possible. Looked thru my etc/hostconfig file, didn't see a problem. Any ideas would be appreciated. |

I had the same problem when login in NOT as the admin. When I login as admin I can mount the Omniweb disk. Yes, appears to be related to installing the developers package. Maybe the dev package changes the permissions or ownership of a directory - such as /Volumes.

I've seen the dosfs and webdav errors in other places too. I've not tried to read an MSDOS disk or WebDav whatever, so I don't know if this error means these things aren't working yet, or if the error is just an artifact from an earlier build rearrangement. -Rob |

The dosfs/webdav errors should be harmless. If you do an "ls -la /Volumes" in the Terminal, what does it show? |
