| Can't load OSX Tiger install disks on 1.33GHz Powerbook My 1.55GHz powerbook was stolen. I bought a used 1.33GHz with OS 10.3..4Powerbook and would like to install10.4.2 from the disks that came with my original Powerbook. But I get the error message "This software cannot be installed on this computer". I also get this if I try to only install the bundled software from the OS 10.4.2 install disk. The most important thing is that I want to run software that only runs on 10.3.9 or higher, and that certain applications that I am used to seeing installed on a factory mac (like Appleworks) Are not on the used powerbook but I imagine must be on the install disk I have as those programs were on the Powerbook when I bought it. Let me know any hints. Thanks |

| You normally cannot install the bundle of software that came with a different model Mac. The result is the message that you see. You will need to purchase the OS X 10.4 commercial installer if you want to upgrade. AppleWorks should be on the installer DVD that came with your used Powerbook (hopefully, that was included) Just insert that disk, and run the installer that you find on that disk. It will likely be called 'Other software', or something like that.

| I'd go with 10.3.9 for the time being and buy Leopard later on. It should be out in Spring.
