Iphoto Pictures Show Up As Blanks

I'm having an issue with my photos in iPhoto.

Some of the photos show up as blanks in the place of the photos. The information on the photos is accurate (2.3MB, etc), and the thumbnail will flash the picture momentarily the first time it comes onto the screen, but then it disappears and a blank shows up in its place.

I have plenty of hard drive space left (200MB out of 250MB) and plenty of DRAM (2GB). I have a new iMAC, if that matters.

I've seen others with similar issues to the one I am having, but I haven't seen any solutions yet. At this point, I'm wondering if there is a problem with iPhoto itself.

Any help would be appreciated.

What were you doing whtn this behavior started? Have you been working on your photos from within the Library in Finder rather than from within the iPhoto app? Have you tried rebuilding your library?
