babno is on a distinguished road
using install disc

i have forgotten my account password and filevault is off making me unable to enter the master password. me and my roommate share the computer and account but he's in another contry for a few weeks. i need to know what will happen if i use install disc to start computer.
will the existing files be destroyed or damaged?
will I have acsess to my files?
will I be able to check mail or use the internet?
i think thats about it thanks

Nothing will be lost or destroyed by booting off the OS X disc, but you won't have access to your files.

You can change the Password when booted off the OS X disk. Under one on the Menu's there's a Reset Command.
