Mouse Button not working - Ibook G4

I started my computer up today and the mouse button doesn't seem to work anymore. I can rollover menu buttons and get the full menu in front of me and when I have a pop up box I can hit enter and that will work. I can't click on anything because the computer doesn't register the click. However I can open up programs using the non mouse command keys.

Any ideas on how to solve the problem?

I have restarted a number of times and that doesn't work. I am a bit of a mac amateur so technically i am struggling.

Lift up the keyboard. Remove the Airport card following the instructions under the keyboard. Using a jewelers philips head screwdriver, unscrew the metal plate covering the logic board. There will either be a white connector easily visible under the plate, or a brown and black square connector directly under the lip on the bottom edge (towards the trackpad) of the plastic part of the top case. Make sure the connectors are fully seated. If they are firmly seated, you may need a new top case. Contact your local Apple shop to get a quote for the repair. It shouldn't be too bad as far as cost.
