| Problems with mail
Yesterday I tried to add another email account into mail but it didnt really work. The new email address showed up in the mailboxes fine but didnt download any of my emails. Then when I re-launched mail today the mailboxes button in the tool bar is greyed out. Theres no emails for any of my accounts. The mail icon in my dock shows 1 new email. Can anyone help me? |

| You have to use the correct settings when you setup a new account. Since you have not a hint about the problematic account, there is nothing more that can be done except on your end.

Well the origonal account is now working. They are both hotmail accounts (I downloaded something to make it work with hotmail). The settings are the same for both accounts but the new one is hotmail live or windows live or whatever crap they are trying to call it. I guess that must be the problem but Im not sure. | Well, out of the box, Mail supports accounts using the POP3, IMAP, and Exchange protocols. Hotmail accounts use none of these. They are not supposed to work in Mail unless you download and install httpmail. When asking for help in the future, please include relevant information about the problem.

| I will be on vacation in about two weeks. To clarify, I was not informing you of httpmail, I was scolding you for leaving out of your OP the vital piece of information that your account is a Hotmail account. And no, you did not say that you downloaded httpmail. You said and I quote: "I download something ...." Determining that "something" was httpmail was an exercise left to the reader.

Im sorry I left out that it was hotmail account in the first place. When I said I downloaded something (because I dont know what it actually was) that would make it work with hotmail, then wouldnt it make sense to you (which I imagen it did otherwise you wouldnt have meantioned it) that it was the httpmail plugin or whatever it is. Whats the point of argueing about this? Couldnt you have just asked for more info on the problem? You got the info you needed out of the second post. You could have either helped me or left it to someone else who could. Thanks for making my day abit more brighter. Thank you to anyone that can get past this and help me. |
