| Mail Sounds Not Playing Minor problem that causes great annoyance: my Mail.app sounds no longer play (send/receive mail, etc.). It wouldn't be such a problem if it weren't for the fact that now I have to check Mail all the time instead of just listening for the ping (especially frustrating when you're awaiting the swoosh sound to know if an email has been sent). I have a sneaking suspicion that this problem coincides with my installation of Growl and GrowlMail. Any thoughts? Achates |

| Check Mail preferences (general), verify "Play sounds for other mail actions" is checked. In System Preferences, under the Sound pane, verify "Play user interface sound effects" is checked, and alert volume is set at a reasonable level. If that fails, drag the com.apple.mail.plist file (/<yourhomefolder>/Library/Preferences/), to the desktop (while Mail is closed). If it isn't fixed when you start mail again, drag the preference file back.
