Remote Control question

i am very unsatisifed with the current state of mediacenter apps for mac....and have no ideas how to write my own.

SO....i was thinking of using SofaControl or RemoteBuddy or something like that to navigate my files and then have them set to open with VLC....

problem is i dont want to navigate the files while looking on my imac screen...i want to navigate looking at the larger 37" TV that will be hooked up to the mac as secondary display.

is there a way to force sofa control or whatever app similar to that to only show on the secondary display?

and no....i do not want to switch to mirror mode, as sometimes i will work on the imac while someone watches a movie or show

If you have ever used a Mac, then you know that it has two dual-monitor display modes. In addition to mirror mode, you can also span your logical Mac display across two monitors. Keep your menubar on the iMac's internal monitor. Place your media window on your TV. You will find these options in the Displays preferences pane.

hey misterme.....re-read the post as I think you misunderstood me.

I have used macs all my life, and have only owned macs....so I am well aware of the dual display modes...hence why I mentioned i do NOT want to switch back to using mirror mode just to get this to work.

regardless....i found the solution. Inside the prefs for Sofa Control is an option for which display you want Sofa to be viewable from.....so i just set it to the TV and we are all set.



now the only problem is how to get VLC to launch each movie in full screen...but on the secondary display....not primary display.

I thought VLC had a preference about which monitor to use for fullscreen playback. But I also seem to remember that this feature was broken for a while in its development...
