Advantages of having DotMac and separate webhost??

My .Mac renews in just a couple days and I just am wondering about the advantages of having both a separate webhosting site( http://www.kirktalon.com/kirksweb/ ) with backend support for things like php, mysql etc. I really have not used the other features of DotMac in a long time.

I sorta got my question answered in this thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread....563064#5563064 but I'm open to hearing about the positive too.

SO if you want to tell me why I should keep both DotMac and a separate webhosting site be my guest. Other disadvantages are welcome too.
