Cant Open HardDrive

I am experiencing a bad problem. I'm running OSX.4.11. For some reason lately, when I double click the HD icon on desktop, the folder opens up and immediately disappears. Same thing happens if I access the HD from any folder that is already on desktop. With this problem, I can't access any folders/files on my HD. Is this a bug/virus issue, or what?

you should try to repair the permissions from the boot of the CD or DVD install.
-With the disc utility.
