iWeb: Long pause after loading page

Hey there. Please welcome a nooooobie.

So, my problem is that when I view (on IE, if that makes a difference) pages that I've composed with iWeb, there's about a 8-10 second delay before I can do anything to navigate it. Scrolling, clicking on links, nothing works. While I'm sitting there waiting, the text appears to be highlighted, and there's no hour glass near the pointer that would indicate the PC is "thinking." After the waiting period, the highlighting around the text vanishes, and everything works just dandy, until I click a link... then I do it all over again.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Jon

It appears that it does make a difference and a significant one. First off, I find your page unnecessarily complicated. You are loading elements bottom-to-top with a bit of randomness thrown in. This may be novel the first time you see it on a connection that is slow enough for the upward loading to be seen. However, Safari and other browsers including the obsolete Internet Explorer 5.2.3 render it fine. However, IE 7 wants to render your pages top-to-bottom and sits there waiting for the top to come in before it renders the rest of the page. Your linking problems in IE appear to be just impatience on your part. Wait awhile for things to load and it works, even in IE 7.

Advice: Even though it is a bit funny to see a site that brings IE to its knees--on such simple code--your site is intended to be seen by family and friends who are likely to be using IE. Revise your code so that your page elements load in a more conventional order.

Thanks MisterMe.

I think when we build the page, we drag, drop, re-drag, re-size, re-drag-and-drop.... etc. All the while the code is probably building up and up and up. Right?

We'll revise our code. Thanks again!
