| Mail is gone I can't find my emails and mail has reset, as if I have never used it. All folders are gone, and it appears that other things are gone or have changed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks JJ This earlier post is similar... November 17th, 2005, 02:30 AM "I have had a mail meltdown. I am running Tiger on an imac g5. Went to look at an open email from a known contact and email contents were gone instead was a message saying the message was not available and would have reconnect to server, same was true of all emails in my inbox. I ran Yasu and restarted, on restart Mail opened as if for the first time, all folders with old mail in were gone, although email account details were still in place except for the smtp. Also address book is empty, desktop preferences were lost, as were Safari preferences and bookmarks, . The only thing done between opening the email with no problem and returning to it was to email some photos from iphoto. Any ideas what happened, and if my old email folders and address book might still be accessible somewhere? Spotlight tells me they are in the library under Mail but when I go there all is empty.... Help! Nayana" |

| Yep, something got screwed up in Mail's preferences. To check if you still have the email go to /YourHardDrive/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/ and make sure the email is still there. If the email is still there then follow these steps: 1) Remember the settings how to connect to your ISPs email server. 2) Quit Mail 3) Delete Mail's preference file in /YourHardDrive/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist. 4) Reindex your email boxes by following my HOWTO possible fix slow email (warning: this is an advanced function!!!). 5) Restart Mail and setup you ISP settings again. Your email boxes should be back now and faster then ever. Good luck.
