Unable to scan from X5470 in OS 10.5.2

I am using an X5470 on an iMac G5 PPC and, after downloading a driver from the Apple site, I can print just fine. Today, though, I tried to scan a four-page document. All pages went through the document feeder but only the first was viewable on screen. The file menu contained no Save command, so I was unable to save the document.

I then went to Apple.com and lexmark.com and downloaded a scan patch for 10.5. After loading the new software, I turned my printer back on and selected Scan. I then got a "downloading software applications" message in the printer LED, followed by "Cannot retrieve applicaton list".

Does the X5470 not work as a scanner on Macs running Os 10.5.2 at the present time?
