USB Error

I have a Microtek 9700xl attached to my G4 mirror (tower). It scans refelctive fine but when i use the transparency adapter hood, it's attached to the scanner to scan negatives/positives (TMA 1600) it comes up with error codes saying 'error -122' and wont scan...??

Any ideas.....
