Issues with Mail

Is it possible to reinstall just the mail program? I'm having problems with email and was thinking maybe a reinstall of the program would be possible...if so, should I make copies of all my saved emails and after the reinstallation how do I reload those?

What problems? What version of OS X are you running? Did you read the post (my post) [HOWTO] a possible Fix for slow Mail?
