Bluetooth Suddenly Shutdown

Mac OS X, 10.5.2, 1.5GHz, 1 GB DDR

Bluetooth has been running fine for more than a year. Today it is suddenly ghosted and I cannot open the System Preferences panel for it (mostly because it isn't there). Batteries in the mouse and keyboard are fresh. What gives?
