HP PSC 1610xi will wont scan

I have an iMac with Leopard and an HP PSC 1610xi. The printer will print and make color and black and white copies but will not scan. The Set up Wizard does not detect any printer connected to my computer even though I had printed seconds before and the System Profiler detects the printer.

Are you using HP's scanning software? OS X has no scanning capability on its own. You can also buy VueScan, which probably supports your scanner.
