administrator disappeared? pls help.

hi, i am quite new to computers and v new to mac. had my macbook pro 3 months. only set up one user account (me) as administrator. but something odd has happened, my account now says i have a standard account not administrator. cant do alot with no admin rights, can anybody pls help??
