iPod-argh: Where is my music??? 10 G in use, 8 G free, 410 MB (I had 13,5G) music??!!

Somehow the "automatic synchronization" had gone on on iTunes.

Result: I have now the same music on my iPod than I had on my iBook. That is 410 MB of music.

Before: I had 410 MB of music in iBook, and about 13,5 G of music in the 20 G iPod, free 5+ G.

Now: It shows me in iPod 10 G in use, 8 G free - and 410 MB music.



What are those 10 G??? My lost music?? What has happened to the remaining 3,5 G lost?

How do I find and rescue my music??

I have now switched back off the automatic sync ... (and the next one switching it on will be dead).

Did you figure out what is using the 10GB? That's really weird.

I'd guess that you lost the music, though, from having the iPod updated with iTunes....

I have no idea what is that 10 G. All I see in terminal is posted above.

I tried also iPod Viewer, I see some names of tracks that were in the iPod but not in iBook - but not all, nor I can't get the space they require. They are less than 10 G though.

i can't see them nor in itunes of the ibook nor in ipods control, just in terminal. what's wrong?

I manage to copy the files from terminal, e.g.
cp "Idiot Wind.mp3" ~/Desktop

BUT - I can't see the files in iTunes nor in iPods display.

I see one solution: copying EVERYTHING to a harddisk, remove all mp3-files from those F00 - F19 files, and then copy them back there again?



- The folders F00 - F02 are practically empty, the other folders seem normal. So it'll be painful to find out which are those 3,5 G lost (once I can find an empty 13++ G HD for a couple of hours.)

Err...probably would be easier to copy them all from the F00-F19 files, import them into iTunes, then update the iPod from there. You could delete 'em from iTunes after that.
