| Aliases (and soft links) broken- AFP/SMB I created a soft link on my MacMini under my users' ~/Public folder that is a link to a locally mounted external hard-drive. When i connect to the Public folder from my MacBook I can see the link, but it is broken. When i connect from a windows or linux machine, the link works just fine! Also, it seems when i create a soft link to anywhere else on the machine, it works in mac/linux/windows, it seems like it is just the external drive (and anything on it) that can't be linked to. Yes, i've also tried using os-x's "Create Alias" as well, which creates an HFS link instead of a soft link, but it also doesn't work in mac (but does work in linux/windows) Weird, huh? |

| What exactly do you mean by a "soft link?" Do you mean a symbolic link using the "ln -s" command?

| Another question: Are you using AFP or SMB to connect your Macs? If you do a "ln -l" on your symlink, what is displayed exactly? A relative link or an absolute link? |
