Change name of images to upload?

I was just on a business site that would allow me to upload my logo. However, as I often upload pics or images from the desktop, the title of the image is always USER/MYNAME (my name turned out to be my user name), location, etc. I would like to stop seeing images named after me, etc. If I put a folder on the harddrive (currently just a bunch of numbers), if I go to upload the image, will it eliminate the USER/MYNAME/TITLEOF IMAGE/DESKTOP?

And, the follow up question is: Is there an easy way without screwing up everything on the computer to change my user name name? I'm assuming it is buried as the administrator? (I have never figured out the use for the "Short name" and other info like that under "administrator" - If I recall, the first time I loaded the OS software I had to chose a "short name" or something? And, the OS software called my computer by my name or something I filled it? And, I can't imagine changing this without jumping through hoops. If there is a way, can you give me some insight?).

Thanks.

Did you actually upload an image or is that just what you see in the upload dialog box?

Easy way to change shortname: ChangeShortName 1.3

The shortname is essential as it is how the computer recognizes you as a user.

What you're seeing is the full path and filename of the file you're uploading in that upload text box.

Whomever you're uploading to will end up using whatever filename they want (perhaps even the same filename you're using), and will not be able to see the path (ie, "/Users/someone/Desktop/123.jpg").

You can change the name of your computer in the Sharing pane of the System Preferences.

Interesting. So, if I upload an image from my desktop to a website I'm building on GoDaddy, what becomes the name of the image on the site?

No, just the name of the image, but I rollover images on sites and see lots of information and wondered if my information will be seen as well....
on that note....

do you know how to "turn that off?" I have looked everywhere and I can't seem to turn that off. It's a little annoying when I'm trying to read something on a site and the pop over page is the http:// info/link/etc. Sometimes I can't see the info at all because of this window.

Whatever they choose to name the image -- more than likely, it'll be the original name of the image (without the path part, ie, "/Users/name/Desktop/").
