| Problems with MBR and WD HD hey, i bought a brandnew western digital external HD 500gb, and i was using it to transfer my data from mac book pro to it when ever i need to. couple days ago i was trying to transfer a .avi file and i kept getting this code message" The finder cannot complete the operation because some data in " movie.avi" could not be read or written (error code-36). " i tried with different movies and still doesnt work, it only accepts .doc and .pdf. this HD works pretty fine with PC. according to the search i've been doing, i noticed that lots of ppl have the same problem, but dont seem to find an answer.. your help is much appreciated. thanks |

| If you have not reformated the hard drive, it will probably have the FAT32 format, which only can take files up to 4 or 6 GB, and isn't that great in general. Try reformating the disk as a mac format in disk utility.
