| 10.4 Desktop folders missing
On my friends Macbook, she had a bunch of desktop folders with Word Documents in them. She said that she updated her mac and then all of her folders and files were no longer there. She tried searching for the files in finder but only found really old back up files. I searched around and some say the files are missing because of a quickbooks update, but she doesn't have quickbooks. Could the Mac update caused her files to go missing? Is there another way to retrieve her files? Thanks. |

y2j58: She said that she updated her mac What kind of updating did she do? Exactly what did she update, and how did she update? Is there another way to retrieve her files? Here are some ways: 1. Use the Search function (in Finder type Command + F) 2. EasyFind 3. Download the demo version of DataRescue II. If the files are found, you can then purchase the full version and recover the files. 4. Dr. Smoke's FAQ Data Recovery has useful hints. It is always a good idea to have an up-to-date backup/clone of your entire HDD. Use a firewire HDD and a utility like SuperDuper Good luck cak |
