aboveskater:

Your AGP Graphics PowerMac G4 will support up to OS X 10.4.11 (Tiger). Tiger and Panther disks are not as easily available since the release of Leopard. Tiger is no longer available at the Apple Store but is still available for $129 by calling Apple Phone Sales 1-800-692-7753. Panther is no longer available directly from Apple, but you can find the Full Retail Version of Panther or Tiger, if you shop carefully, at online outlets like FastMac Retail $159; CDs $179, HardcoreMac Retail $199, CDs $249, AllMac Retail $149, CDs $179, etc. If you know what you are looking for, read all documentation carefully and ask questions of the seller, you may be able to get Leopard at eBay, Tiger on eBay or Panther on eBay.

To install Panther your computer will need to meet the minimum system requirements for Panther. To install Tiger your computer will need to meet the minimum system requirements for Tiger.

You did not tell us how much RAM is installed in your computer. Your computer will support up to 2 GB of RAM for OS X (1.5 GB for OS 8 or 9) in 4 slots. You will need PC100 3.3v, unbuffered, 8-byte, non-parity 168-pin SDRAM. In OS 9 Go to Apple Menu > Apple System Profiler to see how much you have. I recommend at least 1 GB, which will be 2 512 MB modules. Check the different brands available and prices at ramseeker.

Please do post back with further questions or comments.

Good luck.
