Does MacOS warn when RAID fails?

I was just wondering if Leopard will provide a warning if a RAID-5 array element fails, since the whole point is to provide invisible fault tolerance.

I'm curious about software-based RAID, but for the sake of searchers, if hardware RAID is different, might be nice to know.

Thanks !
