iPhone and Airport

Is it possible to use the Airport Extreme network I use at home, turn on iPhone and make phone calls which automatically bypass the Edge network? Is there a difference between setting up Vonnage or other VOIP system which permits me to by-pass my phone company completely.

As set up now I have a cable modem from Comcast, a Lynsys Router and an Airport Extreme coming out of the router. I can access the web without cost (other than my monthly fee to Comcast). Can I also make phone calls worldwide without extra charge by AT&T?

You'd need a VoIP client on the iPhone. There's been news about "fring". You need to jailbreak your iPhone in order to use that, though.

I believe that Skype is porting to the iPhone soon.
