Firewire external drive not recognized

After one of the security updates to OSX 10.3 my OWC Neptune firewire external harddrive quit showing up on the desktop and I can't find a way to access it. This happened quit awhile ago now. I have since taken the drive to a friends and it is accessable on his computer. Have you got any ideas how I can get it back on this system?

Reset your Pram first then try to reconnect the drive.
