| Problem with language in Safari and web based mail programs
For the last week, safari and gmail will underline and spell check any entered text (including the text I am typing now) using French language. My girlfriend has been spell checking French documents using Word on this machine, but all non-internet programs are fine. I have gone into system preferences, international and edited the language list, and checked input menu then rebooted, but to no avail. Any thoughts? |

| Automatic spellcheck is not a problem, per se. From reading your post, it is not at all clear what is the nature of the problem that you are trying to solve:

right on - problem is I'm working in English and would like safari and internet applications run through safari (like gmail) to automatically correct language using UK English. How to get the safari to operate in UK english when it is in French? As mentioned, have changed international settings in system preferences... Cheers |

In the application(s) where the language is interpreted wrong, type something in an area where you would type, right click, Spelling and Grammar > Show spelling and grammar > in that window, change the language. Spell checking is for some reason application specific and can't be changed from a central location like System Preferences...
