Encypted disk image errors

Hi there,

I recently used disk utility to create 5 encrypted disk images (sparse images?) on an external hard drive to store personal documents. Now when I plug the external hard drive in to my mac and try to mount the disk images some are fine but 3 give me errors such as "no mountable file systems" or "corrupt disk image".

Is there any way that I can open these files as they contain important information like banking passwords?

Any information would be greatly appreciated,
