Speech input & localizations

Hello all!

I am brand new to Mac, so pardon any n00b questions, if you kindly
I am using english as my default language which is great (at least for/to me). Now I just recognized the speech input thingy. Can I set the speech input to a different input language, ie, german without switching the entire system to this language?

Thank you all for taking the time to read and answer,
cheers,

-Chris.

Speech input works only in English. So even if your system was in German, it would still understand only English commands.
