hodihigson is on a distinguished road
Connecting via ethernet to work LAN

I have to connect to the work LAN using an ethernet cable, with the IP address and port number they give me.

I get so far as being able to download my email but can not send email or connect to the internet with safari.

I enter the IP address through System Prefs - Network.
I enter it under DHCP with manual address. I can not find anywhere to enter a port number
I run all the usual diagnostics (through safari when it can't connect)

I am the only mac user on the rig, and as I am only there for 2-3 days at a time I can't seem to find anyone who knows what to do. The are all PC users.
I have a MacBook Pro OSX v 10.5.2

Any ideas? Many thanks from anyone who puts some time into this, I am very grateful.

If you want help with your network, then you have to tell us something about your network. So far, the only thing that we know is that it works over TCP/IP.

Post the instructions that you received. Even if the information has a Windows slant, someone here is almost certain to be able to convert it into usable Mac instructions.
