| Non-start up My G4 PowerPC will not start up. I get a grey screen with the apple logo and that's it. No spinning gear. I have removed everything except the apple mouse, keyboard and monitor connection. I have tried starting up in Safe Mode and Single User Mode, neither of which work (i.e. I can't get into either of these modes). I have reset the PRAM. No difference. The CD draw will not open using the Open CD key on my keyboard. I am now very stuck. Can anyone help please? UPDATE: I have reset the CUDA/PMU. This has made no difference either. Could it be the battery simply needs replacing?

| Have you tried opening the CD drawer by holding down 'M' on start up? |

| Unfortunately that doesn't work either. Have you ever had one of those days where nothing seems to go right? ![]()

| Probably a typo (but I was curious enough to try it). Anyhow thanks Mr S. I appreciate anyone who tries to help.

| Must be my age. I'm sure I've used that in the past, but it's not working now. In fairness I did ask if Rhisiart had tried it, I made no mention of it working. Is there a CD in there? Or do you need to get it open to insert a start-up disc? How about plugging in an external cd/dvd and trying to start up from that? |

| Tried that too. I suspect the Power Management Unit may be damaged. However, I don't really know for sure.
