Rebuilding Keychain

My Mac was asking me for keychain password every few seconds and wouldn't accept my login one or any other possible password I could think of, so I read many articles about how to fix it, including some here. I tried the solution on my second account first which has worked - change user password, delete login keychain, log out and back on (no new login keychain was there), in preferences clicked on reset keychain and then I got a new login keychain that asked me to add a password which I syched with my login one. Backed-up keychain files wouldn't copy over so I have lost all info on the old keychain. I now have to do the same on my administrator account and am wondering how this will affect programs like Adium which are in the keychain I am about to delete - will it just connect on the new keychain or do I have to do any thing else before I delete that keychain? - If there is a password on that, I surely don't remember it! Or do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks
