1. Filevault 2. Dashboard

Running Mac OS 10.4.11 on a MacBook ( Intel ).

1. Unable to turn Filevault off. Have followed instructions numerous times.

2. Have lost all widgets. Tried downloading from Apple site, but none will install.

Your help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Anchor, how much free space do you have on your system? To turn filevault off, you need as much space for that free as your home folder is taking. So if the home folder is 110 GB on a 200 GB hard drive, that will not work until you have removed enouh space in the home folder and restarted the Mac after to shrink the vault image.

Did you try to relocate your widgets or accidentally put them in the Trash? System widgets are found at:

MacintoshHD ~> Library ~> Widgets

User downloaded widgets are stored here:
YourUserAccount ~> Library ~> Widgets
Check whether these folders are empty. When you launch Dashboard, is there the circled plus sign in the bottom left corner?
