Diff. from Tiger in setting up "virtual IMAP"?

I'm about to upgrade to Leopard and I was wondering if its behavior was any different from how I have Mail set up under Tiger to create a "virtual IMAP server"…namely, I just have Mail set to delete emails from the server as soon as I delete them on either my desktop or laptop (I don't use mac.com or have an IMAP account through Verizon).

It works pretty well but sometimes it's annoying because I'll be away from my desktop and I'll send myself an email re: something to do on it, but I have to wait until I'm back there to delete it off my laptop. Also it makes me a little nervous about accidentally deleting an email and then not being able to retrieve it, although it's never happened and I suppose it may still be there through web-based mail.

So is Leopard any different in this regard, or will I have the same MO--also are there any third-party add-ons or plugins which emulate this behavior (creating a virtual IMAP server) as long as I'm here? :-)
