Internet Browsing Slow

2.33 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo - 2GB RAM - OSX 10.4.11

Internet browsing is slow.
Weird problem started yesterday. I have experimented with Safari and Firefox, logged in as different user and the problem is the same.

When I open a webpage it takes a long time to load the page.

I did a speed test from my ISP and everything seems fine.

I have been watching the activity monitor Data sent/received and notice that when I navigate to a webpage ... there is a delay when the data is sent. It's almost like the first attempt to send data fails.

When I play Games, the Query server list is really slow but when I join a game everything works great (low Ping etc).

I installed an Adobe Flash player? and it did ask for my user password. I hope I didn't let some malignant software in.

Thanks

Same-similar. Both FFox and Safari were virtually unusable here. Had you just done the latest (2008-003) security update from Apple? I suspect that may have had something to do with it.

I couldn't even get Speedtest or Speakeasy to work! They're both back in service today, but the slowness problem emerges later in the day ie. afternoon/evening local time. My ISP suggests congestion on an overseas server somewhere.

Perhaps your ISP may be able to offer a solution, or at least give you a reason for the slow connection.

In the meantime, do the usual Repair Permissions (recommend Onyx), reboot, stand on your head etc.

I doubt you've got any malware on your computer, the password thing is so the Flash Player can get access to certain system functions.
