Unhappy Firefox 2.0.14 crashes on iBook G4

I've just acquired a used iBook G4 off eBay (512 MB, 1GHz) in order to use it as my living room Internet access terminal.

Firefox 2.0.14 crashes upon loading almost any page. I can't even start it with an empty profile because it crashes immediately. Not exactly: it takes a few seconds (FF is busy and the cursor and the "loading" icons are spinning) before it crashes.

Anybody out there with the same problems?

BTW, on my G4 Mac mini, FF runs just fine. The Operating system is 10.4.11 on both machines.

What does console say while and just before it crashes?
Does it crash with one user or all?
Remove all FF related preferences e.g. to desktop - will it crash also without any set preferences?
Do any other programs crash?

I haven't checked console and will not be able to do so, at least not in the same environment. I'm just reinstalling Tiger from scratch and will try again.

Edit: Firefox seems to run now. There was probably a faulty system extension or plugin installed. If anything goes wrong in the future, I'll post again.
