Mounted External Hard Drive not showing

I have a Macbook (blackbook) running OS X 10.5.3 and a 160GB Firelite HD that connects via USB. It use to show up and run just find but lately it has'nt been showing up on the desktop or in Finder. However, it shows up in Disk Utility, which shows that nothing is wrong with it.

How do I get it to show back up on the desktop/finder
?

First of all I want to welcome to macosx.com!

Well, it's positive to know that disk utility finds your hard drive so we can almost rule out that your drive is broken. In Disk Utility, if you were to select the partition and click mount at the top of the window, does that work?

Also have you went to the Finder's Preferences and put a check mark in "External disks" (on the desktop)?
