applications wont start

all the programs i habe tried wont start after i copy the app from the mounted dmg to the application folder, example: messenger for mac mounts okay, but when copied to the applications folder the icon animates but doesnt start. i copied from the application folder to the dock, but the icen bounces up and down once but doesnt start, same thing with Azureus and BitTornado.
On a g4 with 10.3.2.
i was able to get unison to work and i used the same method.
im still new to mac

Your system isn't the newest one. Have you checked the minimum requirements of the software you're trying out?

Yea tha was the problem, my system needed to be 10.3.9 so after the upgrade they all worked. Thanks for the help.
