ARCHIVE FIX INCOMPLETE! Now in a JAM!

http://macosx.com/tech-support/mac/entourage-exc_bad_access-error/27991.html

tells you how to fix a EXC_Bad error, but it is missing some info for current systems. You get to step CP and you have these options:
usage: cp [-R [-H | -L | -P]] [-fi | -n] [-pvX] source_file target_file
cp [-R [-H | -L | -P]] [-fi | -n] [-pvX] source_file ... target_directory

The problem is I have already completed step 7:
7) Type this command:
rm .GlobalPreferences.plist
8) Type this command:
sudo cp /Users/NewUser/Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist .
[it will ask for an administrator password to allow you to log in as root for this action]

Now I've deleted prefs with no replacement and am concerned if I have to shut down I 'll really screw something up!
