MIME plugin help

I was recently on the alltel website trying to preview ringbacks for my phone and when I try to listen to the audio, a little box pops up saying that it "has content of MIME type “application/x-mplayer2”. Because you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type, this content can’t be displayed."

I downloaded the flip4mac WMV to see if that would help and there's still no change. I then went into system preferences, under quicktime and in the advanced setting I made sure that streaming, video, audio, MPEG, MP3, and miscellaneous were all checked and enabled (this being under MIME settings). Still I'm not able to preview the ringback audio on alltel's website. Is there something else that I may not be doing right? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

On my computer, the Flip4Mac plug-in handles the call-back preview just fine in Safari, iCab, and Opera. However, it does not work in Gecko-based browsers such as Seamonkey, Camino, and Firefox. Which browser are you using?

I'm using Safari. With Mac OS X operating system. I don't know if that would make a difference; I don't see how it would.

There are two possible explanations for your problem--a misbehaving haxie or obsolete OS. However, we are Mac users, not psychics. Anytime you ask for help, you need to give as much information as possible:
  • Do you have any haxies installed? If so, then what are they--name and version?
  • Which version of MacOS X are you running?
  • Which version of Safari are you running?
  • Which version of QuickTime are you running?
  • Which version of Flip4Mac are you using?
  • Which model Mac are you using?

- I don't know what haxies are or whether or not I have any installed...
- Mac OS X Version 10.4.11
- Safari version 3.1.1 (4525.81)
- Quicktime version 7.4.5
- Flip4Mac version 2.2.0.49
- My Mac is a Macbook that I bought new August of 2007. The processor is 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.

Ok I was playing around with a few of the system preferences again and I'm not positive what I did, but I got the audio to work. Thank you for your help, MisterMe. I really appreciate it!
