IMovie-clips out of sequenc

I'm not quite sure how to describe the problem. After doing a lot of editing, I was playing the movie through to see what it looked like. It seems to be out of sequence. The little red cursor is on one clip while it is showing the following clip. How do I get it synchronized so that it plays the clip where the cursor is?
