Finder loop Due to disconected usb drive

hello

I have a Powerbook G4 1.5GHz running panther 10.3.9
1gig Ram

whilst copying files off my usb drive the drive lead was removed
the problem is that every time the machiene boots the files are recreated on the desktop I have tryed deleating them
and restarting but the system recreates the files .

Once the system has recreated the files ( 10 or so miniutes I am able to navagate the system .

could any one help or point out how to stop this perpetual loop from occuring I have a huge work load and can not endure the down time.

Many thanx Peter

Is your usb drive connected when you try to delete the unwanted files?

My thinking is along the lines of when a file is trashed from an external device - and then that device unmounted/disconnected BEFORE Trash is emptied, either by Empty or Secure Empty - then every time the ext. device is reconnected/remounted, the unwanted file reappears in Trash. I think the same thing may be happening in your situation - except the files appear on the desktop.
