I decided to give it a try again, and see if I could get iPHOTO to work. I did a "transfer" from the old iBOOK to the Quicksilver. At least instead of "iPHOTO has suddenly quit, nothing you can do, buh bye" answer, I got a "you saved the photos on your computer using a newer version, this is an older version, use the version that doesn't work" message. (Just being a wisea**). So, figuring at least I got further this time, I then got out the iLIFE 'o6 and updated the version that at least got me this far (it was '05) and tried to upgrade it. Alas, I get the "you can't get there from here message" and it quits. So....I got the new '07 MacBook with '06 iPhoto that works, and did a transfer from there (even though the MacBook is Intel/PC/etc and the Quicksilver is Power PC). Nope. Doesn't work. So, I have iPhoto '06 on an iBook, and iPhoto '06 on a MacBook which work fine. I have erased, emptied, reinstalled, erased, reinstalled, erased iPhoto '06 on the Quicksilver. I have installed '05 iPhoto and got as far as it appearing to launch but be told I had saved photos using a newer version so I needed to use the newer version and quit. I have transferred (Firewire "T") the working version to the quicksilver, upgraded the version...and I have overwritten the version that didn't work doing this, with the version that does work on the MacBook. And the bottom line is that the iPHOTO will not run on the Quickbook. Where should I look now? (I mean, if I want to use iPHOTO on the quicksilver....) The reason is that since the MAC is set up to look for iPHOTO in things like iTUNES for album covers, and iDVD for photos for movies and iMOVIE for photos for movies, I'd kinda like to use iPHOTO.

TuckerdogAVL, you are totally bamboozled by your iPhoto issue aren't you ... I'm afraid I'm totally bamboozled by the above post so that makes the two of us. I'm going to have to spend some time trying to find the *facts* about your situation in order to offer you sound advice .... |

Open your iPhoto library folder, you might have to ctrl+click and use "Show package contents". Look for a duplicate photo library with a name that refers to a previous version, like "previous Library, or Library5" etc. rename it to Library.iPhoto and you should be good to go. Take care to save your existing Library before doing this by renaming or moving it somewhere safe. jb.

It's actually quite simple: iPhoto 06 runs on any computer I have but the one I want to put it on! ;-)

Clicking on iPHOTO library, right clicking there is: OPEN GET INFO Open Enclosing Folder Move to trash Copy "i Photo Library" Color Label Lots of pretty colored dots Toast It Automator ZZZZZzzzzzzzz So, How do I open "I Photo folder?" And where is "Show packet contents?" Where would I be to do this? At the C prompt? Sigh. |

THis is hysterical. I'm now getting a message that says "this has been created using an unauthorized version of iPhoto 2 or 4. Please upgrade!" This is after I deleted the Library6.iphoto and replaced it with Library.iphoto. HA HA HA . This is too funny.
